Spectrum Health Systems Announces Opening of Outpatient Facility in Millbury

Published On: July 24th, 2017

Spectrum Health Systems Inc., a longtime not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing a comprehensive continuum of addiction treatment throughout Massachusetts, announces the opening of its newest outpatient treatment facility in Millbury, Mass., located at 50 Howe Ave.

The facility currently services 100 clients in the town of Millbury. Spectrum’s internal data showed many of its clients were travelling from Millbury to Worcester for their treatment. The Millbury center will provide an easier commute and increase the likelihood of continued treatment for those struggling with substance-use-disorders.

“The opioid epidemic and general addiction crisis has hit Massachusetts hard, and Spectrum Health Systems is dedicated to eradicating it,” said Kurt Isaacson, CEO of Spectrum Health Systems, Inc. “This is the twelfth outpatient program Spectrum has opened across the state in our quest to provide easy access to our top-notch and evidence-based addiction services. We are pleased to open and serve the residents of Millbury who need treatment, but previously had to travel a fair distance to receive it.”

According to the latest report by the Massachusetts Bureau of Substance Abuse Services, 220 people overdosed and died in Worcester County in 2016, contributing to the 2,069 total deaths caused by drug overdose in Massachusetts that year.

“We want to make treatment for our clients as seamless and accessible as possible,” said Kristin Nolan, Vice President of Inpatient & Outpatient Services at Spectrum Health Systems, Inc. “By offering services within our client’s hometowns for easy access, we are facing the public health crisis head on. We will continue to create a safe environment for our clients and be a friendly neighbor in Millbury.”

Spectrum’s Millbury clinic operates from 5:30am – 7pm, seven days a week, and administrators can be reached at 508-865-2085. Services provided at Spectrum’s outpatient treatment centers include medication-assisted treatment (MAT), individual and group counseling, and mental health services.
