Pat and Lauren’s new role will be to implement the company’s marketing and business development plan within their assigned geographic regions. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining relationships with referral services, attending conferences and events on behalf of the company and growing awareness of the company through these activities.

This week, Lauren Cappello is featured in our ‘New Employee Spotlight Q&A’ as a way for us to get to get to know her. Stay tuned for Pat Anderson’s Q&A next week.

  • How did you hear about Spectrum Health Systems?

Donna Pellegrino, vice president of business development, and I were connected through a mutual friend. At the time, I was working in long-term care doing admissions and marketing for a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), and felt ready for a change. Donna had mentioned the open position to our mutual friend, and when this same friend mentioned the position to me, I welcomed the opportunity with open arms.

  • What drew you to Spectrum?

I did my research and found there was longevity within the company. All of the employees who were vocal online seemed truly happy in their roles. Spectrum put out the vibe that it cares about its people, promotes from within and invests in its processes – and in my short time here, they’ve proven that to be true. It has been very refreshing for me to find a company that really values its employees.

  • Why did you choose this new role?

In addition to working at a reputable non-profit in an important field, I was attracted to the flexibility Spectrum provided me. I have two small children and with my on-the-go role, I’m able to make my own schedule while still being held accountable.

  • What does your new role entail?

As a new Regional Business Development Liaison, my main task is to work within my territory of Worcester and the Metro West area to develop and maintain relationships with referral sources and clients. I also work with the marketing department to implement effective communications strategies and help out where I can with the admissions process at the New England Recovery Center.

  • Is this your first time working in the recovery field? If so, what drew you to this field?

Yes, it is. Initially, meeting with Donna and seeing her passion for this work are what drew me to Spectrum. Since being here and learning more about the struggles of addiction, I have been fascinated with the research, client stories and professionals in the field. I am very proud to be a part of this important work.

  • What are you hoping to accomplish in the new role?

I am hoping to create as many contacts as I can to aide with the referral process, ultimately helping as many people as I can. I am looking forward to associating my name with Spectrum Health Systems and being a great resource for people.

  • Tell us more about your life outside of Spectrum.

I am from Worcester and spend most of my free time with my kids, family and close friends. You can typically find me cooking or entertaining in some way.
