A Message to Clients Regarding Spectrum’s Response to COVID-19

Published On: March 17th, 2020Categories: News

At Spectrum Health Systems, the health and well-being of our clients and staff is our top priority. In light of the current public health crisis, we are taking every measure possible to reduce the risk of COVID-19 exposure.

Spectrum remains committed to providing treatment in the safest way possible. Individuals with symptoms such as a fever or a cough should not enter program areas for any reason, as we do not have the ability to test for and rule-out COVID 19. For outpatient clients with symptoms, please call ahead to the program site so we can arrange alternative ways to receive treatment.

Effective immediately, the following measures have been implemented for your safety.

Outpatient Clients:

  • Individuals seeking outpatient services (including court-mandated programming) should call 1-877-MyRehab for admission instructions.
  • All groups are suspended until further notice.
  • Individual treatment remains available at the present time.
  • Clinicians are available to speak with clients by phone and we are currently exploring a telehealth option.
  • Medication dispensing will not be disrupted.
  • We are limiting the number of people at our treatment locations at any given time, which allows us to continue medication dispensing while minimizing contact.
  • Program areas, workstations and frequently touched objects are being cleaned and sanitized throughout the day.
  • A text message alert system is being used to advise clients of COVID-19 updates. If you are not receiving these messages, please sign up today. Text SPECTRUM to 313131.

Inpatient Clients:

  • Due to our inability to provide isolation space, we are not able to admit (or accommodate) anyone with a fever or flu-like symptoms within our inpatient programs.
  • Admissions are accepted in Westborough between 11:00 am and 10:00 pm.
  • Admissions are accepted in Weymouth between 11:00 am and 7:00 pm.
  • COVID-19 related questions have been added to our pre-admission screening assessment.
  • Screening is being conducted, one client at a time, in isolated areas prior to entrance into the building.
  • Temperatures are taken at the door for all clients presenting for admission. Clients with a temperature of 100.4 or greater will not be admitted.
  • Temperatures are taken twice daily for all inpatient clients.
  • Program areas, workstations and frequently touched objects are being cleaned and sanitized throughout the day.
  • Outside visitors and external programming are not permitted until further notice. Virtual options for visits and meetings with external agencies are available.
  • Every meal is individually packaged for each client.
  • Shared spaces like gyms and common areas are reduced or closed where possible.
  • Planning for a safe discharge location will be exercised for any client who becomes symptomatic.

Peer Recovery Support Centers:

  • All center-based community services have been suspended until further notice.
  • We are expanding contact options to provide additional support through this difficult time.
  • Peer staff will remain available to speak with you by phone and we are currently exploring a telehealth option. We are sorry for any stress that this may create and appreciate your patience as we work to address these important issues.

Rest assured, we will continue to make every effort to protect the health and safety of our clients, staff and communities, while maintaining outstanding service during this challenging time.
