Spectrum Health Systems, Inc. was awarded a contract by the Rhode Island Department of Corrections to deliver a continuum of substance abuse treatment programs throughout the state’s correctional system.

Spectrum’s first contract with the Rhode Island Department of Corrections was awarded in 1994. For the past twelve years, Spectrum has provided residential treatment, day treatment and reintegration services for male inmates at all levels of security. The new contract is expanded to include programming for female inmates and motivational enhancement counseling for offenders entering the state’s criminal justice system. As a result, Spectrum is now the sole provider of prison-based substance abuse treatment in the State of Rhode Island.

“The contract award and expansion speaks to Spectrum’s strong reputation and the quality of our service delivery,” said Peter Paolantonio, Vice President for Clinical Services.

Based in Worcester, Massachusetts, Spectrum Health Systems, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit substance abuse and mental health treatment provider. In addition to Rhode Island, Spectrum operates programs in Massachusetts, Georgia, Arizona, Maine and Tennessee – serving more than 18,000 adults and at-risk youth each year.
